My experience of investor relations began in 1996 when I joined Makinson Cowell as a trainee shareholder analyst, progressing to head up the team specialising in takeovers and mergers, before managing the shareholder analysis department.
I then spent some time as an Assistant Company Secretary for Robert Fleming (now part of JP Morgan) in the investment trust department; an invaluable experience given that over 150 investment trusts employ our services at RD:IR.
I joined RD:IR as a client manager in 2004 specialising in close share register monitoring, trading volume analysis and the effects of corporate actions on the share register. In January 2007, I took joint responsibility for managing the Analytics Team with my colleague Andrea. Since then, there hasn’t been a dull moment given the growth in the department, the complexity of share ownership and changes to legislation.
