The results of the 2009 RD:IR Global Custody, Proxy & Corporate Action Awards for best practice among global custodians, fund management compliance teams, and proxy and corporate action teams, were announced last week at a social event in Farringdon's party district.
The event was extended this year to introduce award categories for proxy and corporate action teams, alongside our existing awards for nominees and compliance officers.
Richard Davies, Managing Director of RD:IR, said, ''This is our fifth celebration of the work undertaken by back office professionals within financial institutions. Their work is critical to the process of identifying the beneficial owners behind the share registers of issuer companies. This annual event provides an opportunity for us to say thank you for all their help and co-operation, and acknowledge the value of their contribution.
''This year we introduced new awards for proxy and corporate action teams. The complexity of share ownership requires a significant effort to ensure beneficial owners have the opportunity to vote their shares. We, at RD:IR, have seen significant growth in our proxy solicitation business and recognise the considerable effort that goes on behind the scenes to ensure shares are voted on company resolutions.''
Last week's event attracted record attendance. Congratulations are extended to all the winners and runners up.
