RD:IR has been very busy throughout 2016 with various charity efforts including sponsored runs, bake sales, sweepstakes and more, culminating in a big RD:IR Christmas charity bonanza.
Our chosen charity for 2016, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) was the beneficiary of the majority of our fundraising efforts throughout the year, although we like to support a variety of other good causes. The team are always willing to embrace dressing up (or down!) and during the year wore red for the British Heart Foundation, denim for Jeans for Genes and festive knitwear for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper day.
We took part in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge (see https://www.rdir.com/2016/07) and also combated the onset of the colder weather with comfort food by holding a Hallowe’en Bake Sale in the foyer of our office building. A total of £1,836.58 was raised through the year through these various initiatives.
December saw more focus on donating, rather than fundraising, carrying out 3 main collection projects:
- Last Hope Shoeboxes – putting together shoeboxes for man’s best friend. We filled boxes with dog toys, treats, leads, you name it! These were delivered to a volunteer of Last Hope Animal Rescue in Essex.
- Rotary Club Shoebox Appeal – The team filled 25 Rotary Club boxes with household goods, items for babies, and gifts for children and teenagers. These will be delivered to families less fortunate in Eastern Europe.
- Whitechapel Mission collection – we received a variety of donations from the team ranging from cans of beans to sleeping bags, enabling us to deliver 12 large bags of goodies to a very grateful Whitechapel Mission who have been caring for the homeless for 140 years.
Thanks to the entire team for their generosity and efforts throughout the year.
